Why Nasa is installing 4G on the moon

We did a quiz about the year and we had to pick a question that we hadn't done before. I chose why is Nasa instaling 4G on the moon.

Comic about a robber

For writing, we are doing comics. This is a comic based on a lego book called police pursuit. I changed the ending of the comic because I liked the idea of having it that the police find the robber, not the baby.

TASK 2 Graffiti or Street art; Street art or crime

This incident happened in South London in England.
I think that these men should have been arrested because they painted on buildings without permission. They have been awarded by the New York art gallery and some of the work they did the people who owned the buildings said they liked what they had done. I reckon Graffiti or street art should be chosen by the person who owns the premises.

Capture the flag video

The hardest part of the video is trying to get everyone to be doing what the script says. The easiest part was filming because all you had to do was have the  camera facing the right way. If you look at the Capture the flag post you will be able to read the rules.

Toi Moko

For the weekly quiz this week we had to write a DLO about Toi Moko. We found out that; lots of Maori artifacts are found all over the world and are not in New Zealand. We couldn't find an image since it would be ©️opyrighting.

Capture the flag

Capture the flag

Capture the flag is a fun game where you try to get the flag from the opposing team.

It may take up to thirty minutes on average to play and you need 12 or more people to play (six or more aside).

Playing Area
Equipment:

  • Two flags.
  • A playing area that is cut into two sides.

Rules:

  1. You can only tag the people if they are on your side of the playing area.
  2. If you get tagged you must do 10 push-ups or 50 star-jumps.
  3. You must be two meters from the flag.
  4. You can not move or touch your flag.
Hiding the flag:
  1. You must hide your flag on your side.
  2. There must always be part of the flag showing.
  3. Once your flag is hidden you can not touch it.
Tips:
  1. Some people in the team should fool the opposing team to think it is somewhere else like the opposite corner of the playing area (have two spots you are guarding).
  2. When hiding split the group in two and let one of the split-up teams go and hide it while the other team fools them by making it look like there are two hiding spots.
  3. Try to wear the other team out by making them do so many push-ups or star-jumps that they get tired and you get a free run to the flag and back to your side.
Glossary:
Opposing Team - Opposite Team

For the past week, we have been working on writing about a game. We had to include the rules, a brief statement of what it is like playing.

Coral Reefs Are Dying

Today we did some research on why coral reefs are dying. We had to make a DLO on the topic. Climate change is affecting "Coral Reefs because a warmer ocean causes thermal stress that contributes to coral bleaching and infectious diseases". This article also mentions "ocean acidification (a result of increased CO2); causes a reduction in pH levels which decreases coral growth and structural integrity" (the info for this caption is from oceanservice.noaa.gov > facts > coralreef-climate).

  3. I agree that he had to default because if he hit harder he could have killed her.
  4. Yes because he mentioned he did it a week before and that it's not acceptable because he is not controlling his temper and since he is getting paid 20m dollars a year he needs to respect the surrounding areas.
  5. No, because he is old enough to control his actions.
This term we are doing sportsman ship. Here are my answers for some questions. First we had to read a NZ Herald artical about Novak Djokovic and then answer the questions above. There were five questions to answer in full sentences. By Hunter.

Lake Ohau Fire

In the news, there has been a massive fire at lake Ohau. So this week we looked into the fire to find more information about it. This is my group's work that we did and we got our information off the online news websites.

Sportsmanship Brain Dump

A brain dump is where you put all your ideas onto a piece of paper. It is a good way to get all of your ideas down on the same piece of paper. This term we are learning about sportsmanship. The braindump activity is so you can write all your ideas in one spot about sportsmanship that you already know.

Literacy Homework

This is the describe a character chart. Here you can see what the characters in the book, The Wind Singer are like.

This is the plot of what happens in the book. My favorite part is when the Zars turn to dust.

This tells you the atmosphere during the climax and how much action there is.

The above is what the author (WILLIAM NICHOLSON) is trying to say and some questions you will be coming away with.

I reckon that this is a good book for you to read and you will not want to stop.

Egypt

Here is my Egypt inquiry project. The most fun part was creating this drawing. Next time I reckon I should add more detail.

Camp Recount

On week 8 my class went to Nelson for camp. The campground was called Bridge Valley. We were there for 4 days and the people in my car were Carlos, Lachlan, Katlyn, Eden, Meka, and Meka and Carlos's dad.

When we arrived we did an activity called top teams. Each game in the activity was different. First, my group did a water pipe game where you had to fill a pipe that had holes in it up. Then we did a racing game through the playground which had obstacles you had to go through. Next, our group did a boardwalk game. 5 people had to stand on a board and walk to the other side of the bit of field. After that, we did a different board game where you had to go around a cone getting a penalty every time someone touched the ground. We also did a barrel walk where we had to walk on a barrel for a few meters. Finally, we did a game of frisbee golf where you had to get a frisbee in a roped circle earning a point or hitting a baseball post.
Later that day we did low ropes. They were fun especially when we had to walk across a rope only holding onto two other ropes to cross a stream. We also did team initiatives that day. It included walking around a board that wobbled without letting it touch the ground and making everyone in the group be on a car tire for at least 3 seconds.

The next day my group did orienteering where no one in my group could find the number 10. Then we did team rescue where someone in my group kept pushing us off the obstacles into the imaginary crocodile's mouth. Next, we did the burner trail which is just a blindfold track. It was fun especially when you walk into a tree. Finally that day we did what everyone was waiting for, Lazer tag. It included tires and random walls in an outdoor Lazer tag arena. In the first game, red won, and in the second game, blue won. So we had to do a final game that included a medic box. Red won this game but what blue didn't know was that the medic box rehealed the dead.

On Thursday we did kayaking where none of my group fell in. Then we did Archerywhere I accidentally hit the target. Next, we did fire and damper but the damper tasted like rotten eggs. Finally, we did what everyone was dreading, Abseiling. We went through the tutorial and it seemed easy. The way up to the top of the tower was fun, a maze! When I was going down I was so scared but then I got used to it.

Finally, the last day was here, Friday. Once we had cleaned and packed we did a final game here. It was a tagging game but gave up playing because everyone was cheating.
On the drive home the tire popped so we waited 30 minutes until the new tire stopped being silly in the pump up.

Novel Studies

For the rest of the term for reading, we are doing novel studies. My reading group is reading The Wind Singer by William Nicholson. Our first activity for novel studies is to look at the front and back covers and inside the sleeves and predict what the story is about. This is my prediction.

Water quality

I wonder if the creek is healthy.

I think…
That the creek is pretty stabil in my opinion.
I think that the creek is healthy just by the way it looked and all the
healthy animals that were in the creek.

How did you do.
We did good and we had a good look at the creek and its bugs that
live there. We looked for the clarity and timed how long it took for
an orange to get from the top of the creek to the bottom. We also
looked at the size of rocks and what percentage of the creek floor
was rocks or sediment.

What did you use.
We used a bucket that had tape at the bottom so that you could see
through.
We used a barthascope which is oathing that you look into
and it has mirrors so that you can put it under the water and
you can see underwater.

What did you find out.

We found a lot of things like how the bugs survive under rocks
and under the gravel. We also found out that there isn’t a lot of
rubbish in there.

It was really fun down at the creek and if we could do all of the activities it would have been even more fun.

4 things I would like to change in the world

If I could change four things in the world I would change:
#1, Get rid of all the sicknesses - you won't have to go through any sicknesses any more.
#2, Make lego cheaper - All the sets I want cost way too much.
#3, Make you not have to go to school for that long - It eventually gets boring
#4, Make it so that you could always choose what subjects you want to learn - It will be more fun now!

Word of the week, week 11

It was fun doing this since I have never heard of this word. The word is egregious.

A Piece of Writing

Hi, I'm Bob, a Minecraft villager. I live in the blacksmith's hut. My friends are Roger the fisherman, Steve the librarian, Alex and Iry the Iron Golem. And this is my diary.

Well, today was very strange. Alex came back to the village very hurt. She said that there was a Zombie apocalypse at the North village. She said that 10 of the villagers died so there are only 4 left. The 2 iron golems died fighting 4 spiders and thankfully the sun came up or there would not be any villagers left. They are saying that we are going to be next! Alex left and came back 1 hour later with lots of iron blocks and pumpkins to make more Iron Golems.

10 zombies, 100 zombies! Few, I was glad that there was no exit from the building for now! We are having a meeting in the fisherman hut because it was the biggest building in the whole village. Should we rebuild the village into one massive building that no hostile mobs can get into, said Steve. We could have glowstone lights suggested by this nitwit villager. DING! DING! ‘It is time to announce our ideas. My idea is to put armour on while we build a big castle’ announced the big boss villager. ‘Bob, what are your ideas’? ‘Um…’ I muttered, ‘We could build a castle on the edge of this village so we can still come out into the old village, as well as having separate rooms for ourselves that will have everything each village needs’. ‘We could have the old village as old history buildings’ exclaimed Roger.

A few hours later all the brave villagers got diamond armour and diamond swords and went out to attack the Zombies. I looked out the window scared because they could turn me into scary ZOMBIE VILLAGERS! Some of the villagers were sad because they wanted to fight the zombies but they were either Farmers or Blacksmiths. Right then Steve came in with pretty much no armour and no food left. ‘Man, I didn’t notice that there was a Zombie spawner!’ exclaimed Steve, ‘chuck us some food, I’m hungry’. While he ate I watched the Zombies. There were so many of them. ‘How are you doing’ I asked. ‘Well,’ he said, ‘I don’t want to go out again. Hopefully, we will not do any more fighting today and just sleep the night through’. ‘Well, if we do that all the people who have fought will be able to sleep. We can’t risk going through all the houses to get all the beds, It’s too dangerous’ said the big boss villager.

The night was finally over, man that was a long scary night. We only lost two villagers, they were Nitwits. ‘Now we are going to see what Alex’s ideas are’ announced the big boss villager. ‘Thanks, Big Boss Villager, my ideas are 1. We cut down all the trees in the village so mobs can hide behind them. 2. We light up the village so no mobs spawn inside the village. What do you think’? ‘YEAH,’ the crowd cheered. Even I like this idea! ‘OK, that is what we will do, but I had another idea which is 3. Build a cobblestone fence around the village’. Only a few people cheered. ‘Let's get going doing Number one and two. If there is a tree please stay away so that we can destroy them without any harm’ Said Alex finally. I, Roger, and Steve decided to go to a house that has the backyard, you should know the one.  We were thinking about having a fence around the village. ‘We won’t be able to travel to collect special items from other biomes’ said Roger who liked the ocean biome because he could get fish.

It was fun writing this story and I would like to write more. Next time I reckon I could use more descriptive words in a text.

Book review

Book review of the book “By the river” Author and Illustrator - Sarah Penwarden
Kenzie expects school camp to be really boring.
She does raft building, then slides down a slide into the river.
After that, she has fun for the rest of the camp.
I like this story because it tells you that you can still have fun even when you least expect it.
I recommend this book to people who like stories that anything could happen.
I rate this book 6/10 stars and for ages 7-9.

Orographic rain

It was fun making this slide. It is focusing on the south island of New Zealand. The hardest part was making the land and sea since one side of the mountain is higher than the other. Orographic rain is when the wind from the sea comes onto the land, heads up the mountain, turns into a cloud, and rains down to earth. The wind has moisture in it.

Converting mesuaments

I found step 3 hard but I found step 2 really easy. next time I reckon I should learn what <=> mean.

Dear past self

When I heard about lockdown I was so happy. I am writing this letter from school and are in lockdown level 2. I have had fun during lockdown and this is some of the stuff I did; watch tv, play with lego, go for walks and sleep in. I am glad that I can now go to school and on Tuesday morning my back was really sore because I hadn't been running around as much at home. As a family it was hard not to get anoud about anyone. When I was at home I learned on my chrome book and I learned a bit of Maori on the TV. This term we are reading the Forests of silence which is annoying because I have almost read every series of those books. I got the book “Shadow gate” out of the library and I am enjoying the Deltora quest books. I heard about level 4 when ms Farr told us we were not going to school for about 4 weeks. We have almost finished the first week back at school. I like seeing my friends again. Apparently Kea can now herd the sheep! At school, you have to sanitize and you are not allowed shoes inside. I learned the names of the rimu, whity wood, and lemonwood. I played with a eucalyptus bark piece, but it eventually ripped to pieces. Last night I watched AEW dynamite and saw Chris Jericho beat Pineapple Pete.

From future hunter

It was fun writing this and I would like to do it again in the future
